YFC Cultural Attributes

Presidential Declaration
Our cultural attributes are not about competency. Neither are they about efficiency or even organizational alignment. What’s at stake is obedience to the call of Christ on our lives. To become like him. To live a life worthy of him. To reflect him to a dark and tasteless world. At the end of the day, this IS the standard by which we will be measured. As such, we will individually and collectively follow the leading of Jesus, who framed “Do-Instructions” with “Be-Attitudes”. His Be-Attitudes provide the bedrock upon which the wise build their lives, explicitly having to do with…

Anger, Lust, Divorce, Oaths, Retaliation, Relating to our enemies, Giving, Prayer, Fasting, Wealth accumulation, Worry, Judgmentalism, Access to God, Treatment of others, Fruit-bearing

The conclusion of his Sermon on the Mount reminds us of what can happen if we engage in “doing” without anchoring our souls in Be-Attitudes that embody Christ the Rock:

"On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’” (Matthew 7:22–23, ESV)
In obedience to God — with organizational solidarity and unity — we declare that we seek to be...
